NoBlog Number 3 - Jim Lovetoy Rounds up the Action from Last Week...

September 16 2009

Media personality Jim Lovetoy writes exclusively for The Football Ramble. “This is no blog, it’s a column. It’s credible. Proper journalism that has an influence...”

Football just gets better and better! England have already got one of John Terry’s hands on the World Cup after gaining revenge over Croatia for knocking us out of the European Cup in 2008. I’m not normally one to crow, but “squaaaaawk!” The Croatia manager Slaven Bilic’s pre-match claim that England had lost their Englishness motivated our boys to finish the job and qualify for the tournament. It bothers me that anyone can question our integrity. I’ve supported England for even longer than I’ve supported Chelsea and as far as I’m aware we’re not the ones with a striker who dives to win penalties! Personally I make us favourites. A lot of people will say Brazil are the team to beat but I heard recently that their main striker at the moment is Lewis Fabiano. If you look at the Brazilian greats they all have names like Pele, Romario, Ronaldo, all one word. I just can’t see it happening for them with this bloke with two names, football works in mysterious ways like that, so it has to be England all the way. The bookies agree with me. They’re making England favourites because we’re genuine contenders. What other reason could they possibly have to get us all to put our money on a team who haven’t won anything since 1966? It’s because we’re due a win. I for one have already got £500 on us to go all the way. This probably seems like a lot of money to you but it isn’t for two reasons:

1.)    We’re going to win it.
B.)    I can easily afford it.
On then to the transfer ban that Chelsea have been hit with. From what I’ve read in other places my opinion is this: there’s a conspiracy against English clubs and Chelsea in particular that has come from UEFA’s David Plattini. The Frenchman seems to have a vienetta against English clubs and this ban strikes me as a load of old merde, excuse my French! For me it won’t affect our title bid, when you look at the spine of the side – John Terry, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole – we might as well let England wear the Chelsea kit. England are favourites for the World Cup and they’re basically Chelsea, so it figures that if England are going to win the World Cup they can also win the Premier League and Chelsea can win the World Cup. Simples!
I’d like to see how Man City would cope with a transfer ban. This brings me swiftly onto the behaviour of Emmanuel Adebayor (that’s how you do a link Speller!) The way he goated the Arsenal fans after scoring against his former club was very silly indeed. There seems to be a history of former Arsenal players having bitter disputes with their fans and I think Adebayor can learn a lot from another Chelsea boy: Nicolas Anelka. Anelka has played for Liverpool, Man City themselves and loads of other teams, too many for me to bother to check them all. You don’t see him having any problems with former fans. His attitude and his behaviour regarding transfers have always been exemplary and he stands as a shining example to others. Take note Emmanuel, and I’ll see you on the golf course. Chelsea, Chelsea!

Jim Lovetoy is an utter legend. I´m not normally a fan of Chelsea but his reasoned and informed arguments have won over my Bitter, Cynical Liverpool heart.

With such compelling evidence toward our World Cup hopes and the Europe-wide conspiracy against the Blue part of Fulham, how can anyone disagree? Not only that but praising Anelka for his world famous lack of stroppyness (is that a word?). How can one man be so insightful?

Here we are people, the voice of a proper fan!
